Essential English Lessons for Sabah’s Rural Children
Bridging Educational Gaps: Empowering Rural Sabah Students with English Proficiency
Overcoming Challenges in Rural Sabah's Education System
Rural students in Sabah, particularly from underprivileged B40 families, face immense obstacles in accessing effective English education. Limited qualified teachers, scarce resources, and minimal parental support leave these students vulnerable to falling behind in mastering this critical global language. Without intervention, they risk being excluded from opportunities in today’s digital and professional industries.
For many of these children, hiring a tutor is an unimaginable luxury. Their families, struggling to make ends meet, cannot afford the extra support needed for their children to thrive academically. Your help can change this reality. This program offers free professional tutoring to ensure that even the most underprivileged students receive the quality education they deserve. By stepping in, you’re not just providing a tutor—you’re opening doors to opportunities that were once out of reach.
Introducing the Rural Student Reading Project
The Rural Student Reading Project is a lifeline for 20 rural primary school students in Kota Belud, Sabah, who are eager to improve their English reading and proficiency.
By combining structured digital learning with on-site guidance from trained coordinators and tutors, this initiative empowers students to break free from barriers and create a brighter future.
Key Objectives of the Project

Building a Supportive Ecosystem: Engaging parents, teachers, and community members to collaboratively nurture the students’ educational journey.
Hiring Tutors for Underprivileged Students: Ensuring no child is left behind by providing free, high-quality tutoring to those who cannot afford private lessons.
Dedicated tutors must complete online training sessions before the program starts to ensure they are qualified to effectively teach the students.
